Nicola Ford is an emerging independent contemporary dance artist based in Newcastle, Australia. After graduating from Ev and Bow Fulltime Dance training centre with a Certificate IV and Diploma of Elite Performance, Nicola was selected to participate in Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company MASA Dance Journey Programme in Israel. Since returning back to Australia, Nicola has furthered her studies in dance, graduating with a Bachelor of Dance Performance from the Academy of Music and Performing Arts.
Nicola has featured in many performances across Contemporary, Physical and Immersive Theatre. Her recent dance credits include; Mea Culpa by Cloé Fournier/Cloé [F] Projects (2019), Ritual by Twisted Element Dance Company (2019), An Awkward Moment by Ilya Nikurov (2018) and Nitzotzot KCDC (2017).
Nicola has been commissioned to create choreographic works for the Sydney State and Regional NSW Youth Dance Companies in 2019/20 as well as being invited to guest lecture in both secondary and tertiary education institutions.
Nicola has been involved in numerous choreographic processes across Australia and Israel, including residencies, secondments and choreographic workshops with both national and international artists.
Some artists include: Omer Backley-Astrachan - Human Remains (2020), Dance Makers Collective - The Rivoli (2019), Alleyne Dance (UK) - Mobilise (2019), Impermanence Dance (UK) 2019 and Sandra Marin Garcia (Crystal Pite) / Strut Dance - Plot Point (2018).
